Young Neighbors in Action

Young Neighbors in Action is an exciting, integrated service-learning experience for parish and school teams of older youth and adults. Young Neighbors is more than a week of service. It is an extended program that provides the experiences, skills and learning needed to make change possible.  Students from St. Peter-Marian have been to Yakima, Washington, the Winnebago Indian Reservation in Nebraska, Washington, DC, San Antonio, Texas and El Paso, Texas/Juarez, Mexico in the past few years.  This past summer our students did an environmental justice week in Green Bay, WI.  Imagine our students have even paid to do important works of mercy.  They lived in community for the week, and worked at the same work site each day of the week.  This was undoubtedly a formative activity for them, not to mention a lot of fun.  For more information about Young Neighbors go to http://www.youngneighbors.org.
